The Band

The Angels Have Landed

Based in California, Angels and Airwaves, a band comprised of Tom DeLonge, Atom Willard, David Kennedy, and Matt Wachter are reaching for the moon. The group was formed in 2006 after the break up of Tom‘s pop punk group blink 182. Angels and Airwaves have recently released their sophomore record, I-Empire, which is the perfect follow-up to We Don’t Need to Whisper. Both records tell a story to which anyone can relate, regardless of age.

With words that sing to your soul, you can feel this music stirring your emotions, lifting your thoughts, and reaching into your heart. Through impassioned vocals and driving melodies, it’s message rings out to fill you with hope and love that has been ever-absent in a music world filled with messages of pain and sadness.

Their songs are being heard all around the entertainment arena popping up in movies, TV shows, commercials, and at sporting events. Sirens was on a compilation for relief of the fire victims in San Diego County. The band also played in support of Earth Day and is active supporters in the Keep a Breast Foundation. They have also done several performances for the military and their families.

Lead singer, Tom DeLonge isn’t shy about letting you know that you can make your life be everything you want it to be. Their anthems Everything’s Magic and Secret Crowds will further confirm that you should practice what they are preaching. Tom wants you to get alone and listen to these on your headphones, but the music begs to be loud and to be heard. A few taglines from Secret Crowds include, “Spread love like violence” and “Spread hope like fire.”

They have a fan base that is eager to spread the AVA word of optimism and love at any cost. Many of them have steadfast convictions that the music of AVA has carried them through difficult times or has even saved their very lives.

Angels and Airwaves are visionaries. While appearing to have a tight friendship with each other, they are determined to push the envelope of improving the music industry by thinking outside the proverbial box. With a cool style, a celestial theme, and an overall “space has no limit” outlook, they plan each step of their success while paving a new road for musicians for years to come.

The official Angels and Airwaves website at Modlife seems like a skeleton for most people. However premium subscribers have an inside look into the personal lives of the band through the videos they make, blogs, photos, and a chat room where the most devoted stay and converse. At least once a day one or more of the band members will interact with the fans in the Modblast room. Surprise visits by the guys on webcam, is one of the many interactive features of this growing website. The fans can communicate with the band and get responses to their questions and statements in real time.

Angels and Airwaves also has a street team where their fans can register and then proselytize on the streets of the internet using ready made banners which are coded to the members.  The fans gain points for their faithfulness, which they can redeem for AVA goodies. It also includes band trivia and news.

With hearts for change in the world, forward thinking attitudes with the technology to back it up, and an ever growing devoted following, Angels and Airwaves are shooting for the stars. What more can we expect? Personally I’m rooting for lasers and catwalks, or perhaps a ride in the AVA space shuttle because these guys are going places!
